Discover Melbourne
Throughout the
Congress, you will also have the chance to experience Melbourne at its finest. It is
a truly global city with a rich multicultural mix celebrating the creativity and
diversity of its people and the city. Melbourne is exciting, constantly evolving and
has something for everyone. From its vast range of restaurants, cafes and bars, film
and food festivals to galleries and opulent theatres, chic fashion stores, botanic
gardens, sports stadiums, elegant Victorian-era streetscapes to modern innovative
architecture, Melbourne has an activity and attraction that will undoubtedly
interest you.
For those looking to discover some of our traditional art and
culture we highly recommend The Gallery at
Federation Square which has a wonderful focus on Australian art
including an excellent collection of indigenous art, and The
Melbourne Museum where you can experience the Gandel Gondwana
Garden and the Bunjilaka
Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Take the time to visit the
Koorie Heritage Trust who run
guided walking tours departing from the Yarra Building, Federation Square that allow
you to experience the Aboriginal history of the Birrarung Marr (Beside the river of
the mists) and the Aboriginal Peoples of the Kulin Nation
For those who want to explore further afield, the unique natural beauty of regional Victoria is just a short trip away.
