As a service to the behavioural ecology community attending ISBE 2024, we have created a noticeboard for delegates to connect with one another about other events happening around the time of the Congress. To post a notice, please email the Congress Office. Please note that the posting of information on this noticeboard does not represent an endorsement of the contents by the International Society for Behavioral Ecology or the ISBE 2024 Organising Committee.

We are delighted to announce a one-day workshop on the use of spectrophotometry and
calibrated digital imaging for modelling animal vision. The workshop will briefly
introduce visual modelling and will cover practical exercises using
spectrophotometry, calibrated digital imaging, and accompanying software. The
workshop will provide training in using the multispectral image calibration and
analysis (MICA) toolbox and integrated components such as the quantitative colour
pattern analysis (QCPA) framework, and PAVO for using spectrophotometry.
The workshop will take place immediately prior to the ISBE 2024 Congress in
Melbourne and is open to anyone interested.
Date & time: 29 September 2024 0930hrs-1700hrs
Location: University of Melbourne, Parkville campus, specifics TBC

We are excited to announce a workshop on Wild Animal Welfare Methods, which will be
held during the International Society for Behavioral Ecology meeting in Melbourne.
The emerging field of Wild Animal Welfare Science (WAWS) seeks to understand and
enhance the welfare of free-ranging wild animals. Our research focuses on developing
and validating methods to accurately assess the welfare of these animals and to
guide interventions that can improve their quality of life.
This interactive workshop will emphasize the significance of WAWS for behavioral
ecologists, highlighting its potential to both deepen the understanding of animal
behavior and enhance the quality of research. Participants will explore the
challenges, methodologies, and case studies led by pioneering researchers in the
field. Additionally, the workshop will facilitate discussions on integrating WAWS
into various research contexts.
By the end of the session, we hope attendees will appreciate the importance of
incorporating WAWS into their work, gain foundational knowledge on how to apply
relevant methods, and develop an interest in contributing to the field.
