Shinichi is originally from Nagano, Japan but he did his BSc(Hons) at Waikato University, NZ and did his PhD at Sheffield University, UK. He worked at Otago University in NZ till 2014 and moved to UNSW, Sydney. Shinichi considers himself a behavioral ecologist. But the world is full of interesting things and people and he cannot say NO. Consequently, his research has diverged and diversified. Shinichi has been on the editorial board of many journals including Behavioral Ecology, Biological Reviews and Ecology Letters. His hobbies are to watch Japanese cartoons and review papers with 13 top reviewers' awards from publons.
